Using Frame Adapter Bar to Carry Norco Rideau Bikes On Thule Doubletrack Bike Rack

Question:

We need a rack for our 2 step through bikes NORCO Rideau. We liked the Thule platform style 2 bike carrier. Do we require a frame adapter bar? If so, will the Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Womens and Alternative frame Bikes # TH982XT work with the Thule carrier?

The Thule # TH92BJ Doubletrack is an excellent choice for most vehicles using a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch receiver. In order to fold up into its storage position, the hitch pin hole of your receiver needs to be recessed under the vehicle.

For the most part, step through bikes don't work well with bike racks that grab the bike by the top tube. The top tube is so close to the bottom of the rack that the hooks might not be able to slide down far enough to grab. I would recommend using a frame adapter bar like the # TH982XT. I actually recommend the # 64005 from Swagman. It does the same thing only it's easier to use and less expensive.
