Is It Ok For A Roadmaster Comfort Ride Slipper Spring To Rub Against The Slipper Spring Box

Question:

installed the slipper spring box with shock absorbers on a tandem 5th wheel RV. the front right leaf spring seems to be in contact with the side of the slipper box as though the holes in the leaf spring support frame bracket are slightly off. Is this normal for the leaf to contact the side of slipper box?

Expert Reply:

If the slipper spring in your Roadmaster Comfort Ride System # RM-2460-2570 is contacting the side of the slipper spring box then either the box is out of alignment with the hangers or the hangers are bent and forcing the spring in at an angle causing the contact. If it's the hangers then you can pop out the bolt and remove the slipper spring and then either straighten the hanger(s) out or have new ones welded on. If it's the box you'll likely have to remove the four bolts you used to secure it to the frame and try to adjust it straight and then reinsert the bolts.
