Fifth Wheel Hitch Options For A 2018 Ram 2500 Towing A Trailer With A Curt Turning Point Pin Box
Question:
Weve just purchased our first 5th wheel have not taken delivery yet and it has a Curt Turning Point pin box. Were looking for a hitch thats compatible with it, and that can be removed by two people leaving a clean bed so maybe a turnover ball or removable rails. Our truck is a 2018 Ram 2500 short bed WITHOUT factory 5th wheel prep. Can you offer a few options? Thanks

Rotating pin boxes, like your Curt Turning Point, require four points of contact so you wouldn't be able to use a Turnoverball hitch to keep a clear bed unless you locked out the rotating function. If maintaining a clear bed is the top priority then you'll want to lock out the Turning Point and use a sliding hitch to help with tight turns and prevent the trailer from hitting the cab of the truck. B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W. With this hitch you'd be able to install the Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1384-5W for a clear bed when the hitch isn't in.
If you want to utilize the rotating function of your Turning Point then you'll need to install base rails like # BWRVK2602 and a compatible sliding hitch like the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270. You'll also want to pick up a custom-fit wedge kit # SWW-06 to lock the king pin of the Turning Point into the jaws of the hitch.
