Suspension Enhancement for 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 That Won't Hurt Unloaded Ride Quality

Question:

Have 2023 Sierra 1500 with Max trailering package. Have 36’ TT weighs 8800lbs. Have slight squat when using spring bars. When occasionally pulling tractor on 16’ trailer have substantial squat. Looked at airbags, roadmaster active suspension and the tork lift system. Don’t know what to chose. Don’t want to “hurt” my comfortable ride when not towing Appreciate your advice

The best option for your 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is going to be the air bags. These will give you the most overall support and have no impact on ride quality whatsoever when they're at the minimum psi. Another great thing about air bags is the adjustability. You can set them for the perfect amount of support to tow your travel trailer, then add additional air pressure when towing your tractor.

Firestone makes the best air bags available so I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite # F2609. If you have the Z71 Trail Boss model you will also need the # F2366 spacer kit. If you happen to have a diesel engine then the only option would be to use the Air Lift # AL88288 instead.

I also recommend adding an air compressor like the Firestone Air Command I # F2097. This will allow you to adjust the pressure from the cab of your truck wherever you go. It also makes for adjustments and setup easy and simple. This is a single path system so it adjusts the pressure equally between the air bags. For a dual path that lets you adjust each individually you could use # F2219. If you would rather have a wireless compressor then the # AL25980EZ would also work well.
