Why Doesnt The Brake Output Pin Have Power On A Motorhome 7-Way

Question:

I used the Curt 58270 7-Way RV Blade Connector Tester on my Nexus Phantom 28P RVs 7-way and everything worked as expected except the BK Electric Brake. When I depress the brake pedal, the RT and LT lights come on steady, but not the electric brake BK light. Im setting up my Honda CR-V to be flat towed by my RV and am using the Blue Ox Patriot braking system, which doesnt require a wired connection between the RV and the Honda CR-V. Since I dont have a hardwired brake controller for the car, is that why the BK light doesnt go on on the tester? Is there something else I should be setting up? Blessings!

Unless you had a brake controller installed in your motorhome the Curt 7-Way to RV Socket LED Circuit Tester # C66NR would not pick up the brake signal from the 7-way. With no brake controller there's no power running to the brake output pin on the 7-way. The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR you're using has an internal inertia sensor that requires your motorhome and towed vehicle to be moving in order to activate. If you're wanting to test the system to make sure it activates then you'll just need to pull the plunger on the breakaway switch instead.
