Will Tonneau Cover On Bed Rail Clear Fifth Wheel Hitch When Installed On 2012 Ford F-250 Crew Cab

Question:

I have a tonneau cover that sits on top of the existing bed. Will I need to take the rp30051 off to allow the tonneau cover to cover the bed? I have a 2012 Ford F250 pickup with an extended cab and a 6.5 ft bed. I can see the rp30051 comes off easily, how much does it weigh so I know if I can easily remove it when Im not towing.

I spoke with my contact at Cequent about the Reese Fifth Wheel, part # RP30051. The weight of the hitch is 141 lbs. If you choose to just remove the head, the weight of it is 42 lbs. The slider handle may protrude above the bed rails of your truck and may interfere with the tonneau cover. Based on what I have been able to find for the depth of your 2012 Ford F-250 truck bed at 20 inches, removing the entire hitch may be the easiest way to make sure you have the room for your cover.

The hitch has a height adjustment from 15 to 18 inches (included rail height). This hitch will not work on trucks with flareside or stepside beds.
