Installing a Universal Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2003 Saturn Vue
Question:
Hello, I am a boat mechanic ie not exactly electrically incompetent Working on 2003 Saturn Vue, watched your tuturiol video, which was great...however you guys left the blue wire out of the equation which is brake lights. Most vehicles Combine yellow wire and green wire with the brake Hooking up the same way you guys did will not have brake lights? And if you tie them together, obviously everything will come on. What is this solution?

I assume the video that you are referencing was the installation video for the universal trailer wiring harness, part # HM48925, on a 2003 Saturn Vue. I have attached the video below. At the 3 minute and 16 second mark, our installer connects the Blue brake light wire from the Saturn Vue to the Red brake light wire from the trailer wiring harness. If you are referencing a different video, let me know so I can clear up any confusion.
The 2003 Saturn Vue uses a separate tail light wiring system, meaning the turn signals, brake lights and tail lights travel on different wires. This wiring harness has a converter box that combines the turn signals and brake lights on to one wire for the right and left side. Trailers use a combined wiring system for the turn signals and brake lights, so as long as you are using a wiring harness with a converter box and have a connection for the brake lights, turn signals and running lights, you should not have any problems.
Another option that you could look into is the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118418. This harness will simply plug into the vehicles tail light wiring harness and does not require any splicing at all. I have attached an installation video for this harness as well.
