Does Priums IQ Controller Need to be Replaced if Manual Override Slide Doesn't Work
Question:
I have # TK90160 and the controller works the brakes, but the manual slide does nothing. Do I need a new unit? Factory 7-pin, 2006 Sierra 3500? I asked before, but your link no longer works for answer.

Yes, if your Tekonsha Primus IQ TK90160 is sending power when your foot is on your 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 brake pedal but not when you're using the manual override then something is messed up internally and you need to replace the controller. It's common for the the manual slide to work and the brake pedal to not work (it just means something is mis-wired), but with your situation you need a new controller.
The Primus IQ has a limited lifetime warranty so you can try pursuing that, but I do know the parent company is no longer in business so you might have problems getting it replaced. In this case I recommend going with the Curt TriFlex NEXT controller and harness which include the following parts:
- Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV
- Plug-In Harness # C51352
This controller will operate the same way as your Primus IQ and has the plug-in harness to make the installation very simple.
