No Brake Lights with Harness Part # 18004 On a 1998 Chevy Express Van
Question:
My vehicle is a 98 conversion van chevy and I am working on hooking the light system to a trailer. I have left and right turn signals and running lights. My problem: no brake lights. Ive tried different wire combinations with no success. Your assistance is greatly needed and appreciated.

Expert Reply:
The 1998 Chevy van is considered a 3-wire system; it has separate turn signals and brake lights. Using the hardwire unit, 18004, is only tapping into the turn signals meaning you have no brake lights on the trailer. We recommend a custom T-One harness for this van, part #118335. This plugs in behind the taillight assemblies and provides a flat four pole trailer connector which will activate the running lights, turn signals and brake lights on the trailer.
