Troubleshooting Vent Lid On MaxxAir MaxxFan 4500K Not Opening With New Circuit Board and Lift Motor

Question:

2021 Durango Gold 356RLT, with a Maxxair 10 speed remote control IR fan model 4500K. A few days ago the fan started behaving oddly. The lid wouldnt open but the fan spins when the remote is activated. The open/close lid didnt seem to do anything. I checked the action of the gearbox on the roof removed and checked it and it seems fine and very free to turn. I then put a voltmeter on the circuit board output to the motor and activated the fan - I got a momentary less than 1 second burst of voltage on start/stop of the fan. So I ordered a new circuit board and replaced it - no dice. I got a new motor and it STILL does the same thing. A small fraction of a second burst of power that kicksfoot the motor initially but doesnt turn it. It does the same thing with the motor mechanically disconnected from the mechanism ie no physical drag on the motor. I disconnected the rain sensor and this made no difference - I assume water shorts the sensor to flow current, so disconnected will replicate a working, dry sensor. Besides. the FAN spins fine, its only the open/close part of the system that isnt working. IT gets power in the right direction, but for a fraction of a second. In short - I have an issue with the lid opening and I have replaced the board AND the motor and it is still doing it....!

I reached out to MaxxAir as I was stumped since you had replaced both the parts already. Their tech said you will want to first check the voltage going into and coming out of the Circuit Board # MA10A21275K with a Meter # PT29ZR where the lift motor plug is on the circuit board. If the voltage is not 12 VDC coming out of the board then the board is bad. Then you can also get a separate power supply like a 9 volt battery and run some lead to the lift Motor # MA10-20270 to see if it rotates and moves.
