We can definitely help set you up. I am not sure exactly what you are planning on towing, so there are a few things we will want to consider in order to make sure you are getting the right parts. Specifically, we want to make sure that you are getting the correct trailer wiring to match your trailer. Most small trailers will use a 4-flat connection, while larger trailers with electric brakes will require a 7-way plug and brake controller. We also want to make sure that said trailer will be level when you are towing.
As far as wiring, if all you need is a 4-flat connector, we recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. If you need to up that to a 7-way plug with electric brake control capabilities, you can use the Universal installation kit # ETBC7 to upgrade the 4-flat connection to a 7-way. This will allow you to install a brake controller of your choice. For that we recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR.
For a ball mount and such, the main thing is we want to make sure whatever you are towing will be as level as possible. The DrawTite # 75600 hitch will be about 13-1/4 from the ground once installed on a 2014 BMW X5. Most trailers will have a coupler height of around 16" or 17". Based on that I suggest a ball mount like the # EBMK2416, which will give you 3" of rise. This should have you close enough to level when you are towing. The # EBMK2416 includes a heavy duty ball mount, two sizes of trailer ball, a pin with clip and a carrying case. This will be everything you need to hitch up a trailer.
I have linked a few of our inatall/review videos for these products below if you want to take a look.
