Best Anchor Location for Carrying Kayaks on Top of a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI
Question:
I was looking for a hitch for my car 2011 vw jetta tdi sportwagen 6 spd manual. I wasnt necessarily looking to tow anything, i was just going to use it as an achor point for kayaks. I see this will not fit the tdi model, would you happen to know what wont work on the tdi vs other models? Or would you have another hitch compatible with the tdi model. Any information you have is much appreciated.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11474 is the only option that fits your 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen but it unfortunately won't fit with the TDI model. I don't have the exact reason why, but typically there is something either hanging near where the hitch installs or there is excessive fascia trimming required when hitches exclude a diesel model.
Since you're looking for a simple way to secure your kayaks at the back of your SportWagen I recommend checking out the Rhino-Rack Anchor Straps # RRRBAS-2 as an alternative solution, if you aren't already using some. These anchors fit under your trunk and your hatch and leave a loop hanging outside for you to connect your tie-downs to, so it will be easier than looking under your vehicle for a good anchor point.
