Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2000 Ford F-150
Question:
I recently purchased a small utility trailer and attached the trailer lights with no problem. Today I am buying a much larger pull behind camper that already has the electric brake system ready to connect to the truck. I am clueless as to what I need to buy to install or if an adapter is available to connect the wiring that came with the truck.2000 ford f150

You mentioned that your 2000 Ford F-150 came with wiring. If it came with a factory 4-Way trailer connector then to add a brake controller you will need 7-Way wiring harness, connector, fuses, and relays, # 118242. Once the 7-Way is installed you will only need the brake controller and proper controller wiring harness.
I recommend the P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up, easy to use, and it is reliable. The proper wiring harness to plug the controller into the truck is # 3035-P.
If your truck already has the factory installed 7-Way then all you will need is the brake controller, # 90885, and the wiring harness, # 3035-P. I have included a link to a video showing a brake controller installation on a 2001 Ford F-150 for you and a link to our informational article on brake controllers.
