Can The Rhino-Rack SG Roof Rack Cross Bars Be Positioned Differently From the 31-1/2" Spread?
Question:
Im considering Rhino Rack Item # RRSG59 for my Jeep Gladiator. The product page shows the cross members at 31.5 inches apart. I may want them spaced wider or closer together to carry light items only. What is the reason for the specific spacing between the cross bars? Thank You!

Expert Reply:
The 31-1/2" spread are the numbers given from Rhino-Rack for their SG Roof Rack # RRSG59. While I have seen others position the crossbars in other positions on the rain gutters this is the area where Rhino-Rack tested to ensure the crossbars are able to properly support the weight on the roof. So while you may be able to position the crossbars in different positions the specific measurements given are directly from the installation instructions.
