Comparing Firestone And Air Lift Air Springs For A 2019 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a 2019 f150 rwd 2.7liter Ecoboost and now have a 5000 lb boat trailer. With the tongue weight loading up the rear suspension, I was thinking an air bag lift would be the best way to level the vehicle when trailering. Would you recommend the AirLift loadlift 5000 ultimate or the Firestone Ride Right system for my installation? Thank you for your advise. As soon as I return to my home I will be ordering from etrailer.

Firestone's air springs have a better design than Air Lift because they crimp the bag with a steel band so you'd be able to let the axle hang for a little bit if you were working on the truck or if this is a work truck that would drive over curbs on a regular basis. That being said, the only Firestone kit ( # F2582) confirmed to fit your 2019 Ford F-150 would prevent you from installing an in-bed gooseneck hitch or 5th wheel base rail kit so you'd be stuck with bumper pull trailers only once installed. You'll also need at least 8" from the outside of the frame to the inside of the tire for this kit to fit properly.
If you plan on every towing a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer then you'll want to go with the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL57268 instead. These have an extra 200lbs of load lifting support over the # F2582, but this doesn't mean you can tow an extra 5,000lbs. If you have work down on your truck (oil change, tire rotation, etc.) the axles have to be supported otherwise the weight can pull the springs apart.
If you would like to be able to control the psi level of your air springs while on the go then I recommend also picking up the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL58WQ. This compressor comes with Bluetooth capability so that you can monitor and adjust the psi levels from your phone instead of running a separate gauge into the cab of the truck. It'll also be easier to eyeball leveling the truck if you can stand outside with your phone and add or remove air.
I've attached some videos below that will go over each system and walk you through the installation process.
