Longer Hanger Recommendation for Lifting a Trailer 1-1/2 inches for Tire Clearance

Question:

I have a tandem axle trailer with 3500# axles. I need more clearance for tires. Can I install longer shackles and use the same equalizer that came on it or does that have to be taller too? I need a lift of about 1 1/2. Thanks.

You actually would want shorter shackles for additional lift and then a taller equalizer would help as well.

For as much of a lift as you are wanting I would recommend you get hangers that are about 1-1/2 inches longer though, since you want your leaf springs to sit level. And to get 1-1/2 inches of lift by changing shackles and equalizers you most likely will have your leaf spring not sitting level.

I attached a link to a page that has all of the hangers we offer. You will need to determine how tall your current hangers are and then find ones that are 1-1/2 inches taller. You should note that the height of the hangers is measured from the top of the hanger to the center of the bolt hole.
