Weight Distribution Hitch For 6,000 lb Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi! I have a ‘20 Silverado 1/2ton. The sticker on the door says conventional twr 9500 lb, tongue weight 950 lb. The trailer I am looking at is a 2018 Lance 2185. The Weight. 4,380 lbs. 1,620 lbs. 6,000 lbs. 730 lbs. from what I see online. Is this too heavy for my truck? If not, what weight distribution hitch would you recommend?

A 6,000 lb travel trailer is fine to tow with your 9,500 lb capacity truck, and for a weight distribution hitch, my favorite option is from Fastway:

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-1000

This hitch is rated perfectly for a 6,000 lb travel trailer, but. apart from being rated correctly, I really like this hitch because not only will it keep your trailer level, it also offers sway control, which is created by friction at two points on the brackets and is going to give you a more controlled (and safer) towing experience.

The Fastway is also easily the best value among weight distribution hitches, with a unique combination of relative cost-effectiveness and quality. It comes with a shank but you will need a hitch ball as well, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6120.

It will be much, much easier to install the hitch ball using 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket - 3/4" Drive # ALL643216.
