Do Trailer Wheels/Tires Need to be Balanced
Question:
I have a 5 ton dump trailer with galvanized wheels. Notices that the box of the trailer vibrating more noticeably then before. I was advised to get the the wheels and tires balanced. After bringing it to the tire shop their machine showed severe wheel wobble, and was told it can not be balanced. Also there are indents in the back of the rim from the groves of the hub. After talking to a trailer parts suppliers. They said that balancing trailer especially galvanized wheels is super difficult and that regular wheels shop machine will always show it out of balance. And even if i buy new rims, they still might show out of balance. I am stuck in what to do, and how to solve the problem!

In general people don't balance trailer wheels because they are so far out of balance compared to vehicle wheels that you can't really get it all the way balanced and in most cases it doesn't make a noticeable difference. A good portion of the time the weights just fall off too. It could be your tires have flat spots, a worn out suspension component, or an alignment issue.
