i have a 1996 f250 with the 7.3l im not sure which transmission it has, but its a 4 speed automatic with overdrive

According to my research, the 1996 F250 7.3l engine should have a E40D transmission. There are two different ways of confirming this.
First, you can check the sticker on the driver's side door jamb. You will see the letters TR or TRANS, followed by a letter. If the letter is E, you have the E40D transmission. Secondly, you can check the number of bolts holding the transmission pan on. If there's 20 bolts, it's a E40D.
The Derale # D14208 is indeed compatible with the E40D transmission.
