Recommended 7-Way Connector for a 2014 Cadillac SRX
Question:
My TV is a 2014 Cadillac SRX. It has a 4 pin flat wiring connection. The small tear camper I just purchased has a 7 pin round plug. What are my best options? Where can I have this kind of work done? Should I have a brake controller installed in my Cadillac? Thank you

Thanks for the picture! To install a 7-Way harness on your 2014 Cadillac SRX you will need two separate wiring harnesses because they don't make just one for your vehicle that'll add the 7-way.
Good news is you already have the 4-way. The second harness you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Cadillac. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle, like yours with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
You will definitely need a brake controller since your tear camper has a 7-way plug. My personal favorite is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Trailer Brake Controller item # RED24FR. This is a proportional brake controller that automatically adjusts your tear trailer's braking based on the deceleration of your Cadillac. The Liberty has a unique installation method where the main unit is concealed behind your dash and the only part visible is the control knob. The control knob is the size of a nickel so you won't have to worry about it being an eye sore or banging your knees on it.
You will need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete the installation, since your SRX does not have a port under the dash to plug a brake controller into.
To get all of these parts installed, I recommend going to the Item # RED24FR product page and scroll down the left side to below the product pictures. You will see a blue link that says, Locate installers near me. Go ahead and click on this link and input your zip code. Once you do this you will be connected to our network of reputable installers in your area.
