Can Trailer Disc and Drum Brakes Use Same Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator

Question:

I looking at converting my boat trailer brakes from drum to disc brakes. Ive selected the 12 6 x 5-1/2 DeeMax with hubs and rotors. Im currently using electric over hydraulic for my drum brakes. Will I need to make any modifications to my electric / hydraulic actuator to run the disc brakes?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Since drum brakes and disc brakes require different pressure ratings to actuate properly you would need to go with a new actuator that is rated for a higher pressure like the Hydrastar # HBA16 which is our best option as its the most reliable and quickest reacting. Disc brakes require 1,600 psi whereas drum brakes are 1,200.
