Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit

Question:

I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit model. I am looking to flat tow behind my Monaco Diesel pusher air brakes. Need to know what Base Plate, Tow Bar, safety Cables, Tow Bar wiring , and The Air Force One supplemental braking system I would need. My car does have the active grill shutters and I understand that changes the model of base plate I can use? So can you please send me the item numbers I would need. I prefer the Roadmaster brand. But Blue Ox would be fine too. Thanks.

I've listed out the parts you'll need to flat tow your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit below but you'll want to also check with your local dealer for wiring harness information if your vehicle needs the MOPAR RV towing wiring harness kit #82216418AA.

Baseplate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM76RR. This is confirmed by Roadmaster to fit Summit models.

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates # e74ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables bracketed to the arms so that you won't have to purchase any separately or worry about them dragging on the ground. The head and shank also offer a bit of adjustability to help keep the tow bar level between the Jeep and motorhome.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. If you have ParkSense Proximity Sensors then you'll need part # RM63MR instead.

Braking System: Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink # DM26VR. You'll need to tap into the brake light switch wire, which unfortunately isn't useable on your Jeep so you'll need to install the RoadMaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM77RR in order to get the signal for indicator light of the braking system.

Sinc the battery will drain while you're towing I highly recommend installing a charge line # RM-156-25, otherwise you'll have to stop every few hours and run the Jeep to recharge the battery. If you motorhome doesn't have a charge line ran to the 7-way then you'll need part # RM-156-75 as well.
