Parts Needed To Install Redarc Liberty Trailer Brake Control 2017 Kia Sedona & Towing Recommendation
Question:
Hello, we are hoping to maximize the safety and performance of our 2017 kia sedona for towing. Would the RED24FR brake controller be a good option? We like the out of the way installation of it but want to make sure it will work most efficiently. We already have the 4 prong harness 118269 installed. Is that still helpful at all here for 4 prong trailers, or would it be completely replaced by a 7 prong connector with adapter for 4 prong trailers? Are there any other parts recommended? I see spring bumpers such as sumosprings on this site but wondering are they really that helpful? Thank you

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR is a great option to increase safety on your 2017 Kia Sedona. To install this you will need the Redarc Wiring # RED69FR and the 7-Way Kit # ETBC7. This kit will attach to the Tekonsha T-One # 118269 harness and provides you with the wiring needed for installing the Redarc controller. The 7-Way kit also includes both a 7-way which will allow you to connect to trailers with trailer brakes and a 4-way for towing your other small trailers without trailer brakes.
The safest thing you can add to help with towing is a weight distribution hitch like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET. This will help to distribute the tongue weight more evenly across your chassis where the suspension upgrade kits you have seen only help to reduce sag. The Equal-i-zer also helps to reduce trailer sway which is a very scary experience. This particular system is rated for trailers up to 6,000lbs and a tongue weight of 200-600lbs. While this is more than your Sedona could possibly tow the tongue weight is where most your larger trailers you need this for hitch for will land.
