Will Curt Universal 7-Way Extension Work to Connect Travel Trailer

Question:

Curt Universal 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 7-Way Extension - 7 Long Item # C56080 I want to use this for connection between a 2016 G3500 Chevrolet Express Van to travel trailer and utility trailer - both equipped with electric brakes. This C56080 looks to have 14ga wire for all conductors in the tail, and on the eTrailer site: It is specified to use 12ga wire for brake and power applications. Adam R says that this 56080 is The male plug end is just like what many trailers with electric brakes are equipped with and the female socket end is the same as a 7-way socket that would be found on a vehicle that is set up for towing such a trailer. This item carries trailer lighting, trailer braking power and 12V auxiliary power signals from a vehicle to a trailer. This part works as an extension cable for any application using these popular connectors. I really want to just do this once and do it right, is the 56080 correct for use as a fully functional extension, for all lighting, braking and power needs on a light duty travel trailer and utility trailer? Is there a larger gauge premanufactured tail, or do you have to buy the wire and make one yourself? Thank you, I know you have immensely more experience with these things and look forward to your advice.

Yes, for a fully functional 7-way extension that will work for your travel trailer for all lights as well as electric brakes you can absolutely use the Curt Universal 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 7-Way Extension # C56080.

One end plugs into the 7-way on your Chevy and the other end is the receptacle for your travel trailer's 7-way. There is not a larger gauge premanufactured option.
