Your converter must have a built-in transfer switch to be able to switch between shore power and generator power. The Progressive Dynamics converters and power centers that we offer do not include a transfer switch so one would need to be purchased separately. As for replacing the converter, you'll typically want to just match the amperage of what you currently have to avoid having to run new wire. 30 to 45 amps is pretty typically for most RV's, but it's best to check the label on your converter. If you want to send in a picture of it I can take a look and try to see what the amperage is.

Once we determine the amperage then you'll need to choose between replacing just the converter or the entire power center. If you want to keep your current AC and DC distribution panels then you'll need a standalone converter like part # PD9130. If you want to replace the AC and DC distribution panels then you can swap over to a new power center like part # PD4135K.

For the transfer switch you'll need one like part # PD5110010Q if your RV has 30 amp service or part # PD52 if you have 50 amp service.

Send me some pics of your current equipment and I'd be happy to figure out what you need.
