How to Wire 3rd Brake Light on 2022 Toyota Tacoma ARE Truck Cap

Question:

I have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma that came with a four flat and circle plug-in on the bumper for hauling trailers I assume. I recently bought a used ARE MX truck cap. Im trying to wire/power the truck cap and avoid tapping into the driver side brake light, like commonly done. My truck have brake light. Just has two wires coming out of it. Do you carry a four flat plug-in wire that then tapers into a two wire. Or do I just buy a regular four flat wire and only use two of the wires? Essentially, do I just take the two turn signal/ break powered wires from the floor flat and tie them into both brake light wires on the cap? If I go from 4 flat to brake light do I need to take One of the wires from the four flat and tie it into my truck for a ground? Or can I just cap off two of the unused four flat wires and use the other powered for flat wires to tie into each wire coming from the brake light?

The easiest way to accomplish what you're wanting to do is by using the 3rd Brake Light Logic Module # PP20-702 to isolate that brake signal. Then you can either run your wiring from below your truck or you can use a tee-in connector like the Curt # C55384 so you can get that 4-Way connector and those functions closer to your ARE truck cap.

You will need to ground one of the wires from your truck cap, and then the power wire will connect to the output wire of this module.
