Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 10,000 lbs Dump Trailer
Question:
For a weight distributing hitch which do you want me to use trailer or tongue weight? My guess is dont exceed hitch capacity of either one. Trailer weight is 10,000lbs gross Tongue weight is 1,200lbs I should use a 12k hitch, right Its a dump trailer. No way to move load in trailer.

Tongue weight is what you'll want to go off of. Tongue weight is typically between 10% and 15% of a trailer's total weight but since yours is a dump trailer we'll go off of the 1,200 lbs you mentioned.
I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37141ET. This system tops out at 14,000 lbs and has a 1,000 lbs - 1,400 lbs tongue weight range. The built in sway control will help keep your trailer in line with your truck when you get passed by a semi or make a sudden move.
This system includes a 2-5/16" hitch ball but does not include a shank. With a trailer that heavy its hard to tell whether or not people are using a 2" hitch or a 2-1/2" hitch so I have linked both options for compatible shanks below:
2" Hitch - Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 8" Rise, 4" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW item # EQ90-02-4200
2-1/2" Hitch - Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 8" Rise, 4" Drop item # EQ90-02-4800
