I believe the confusion is actually between the installation of the wiring harnesses from two different manufacturers. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56106, works with both the 2012 and 2013 Toyota Sienna. I spoke with my contact at Curt and he doesn't have any information stating that the connections between the two years are opposite. The 2012 and 2013 both have the converter box stored on the driver's side of the vehicle. Installation instructions have been attached which may be of help to you.
I believe that the video that customers have referred to is an installation of the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118498, on a 2012 Toyota Sienna which I have attached. This wiring harness is stored on the passenger's side of the vehicle which would be the opposite of the stored location for the Curt product.
Based on our customer feedback, the Tow Ready version seems to be the favored of the two. The main reason being that with the converter box being located on the passenger side, it can be stored in the jack compartment. Hope this clears up any confusion.
