Prodigy P2 Blowing Fuse With Manual Override
Question:
Brake Controller manual override blows Brake Control Power Fuse Vehicle: 2018 Ford T250 Cargo Break Controller: Prodigy P2 I installed #22116 per instructions and hooked up the Brake Control Harness to an existing Prodigy P2 I removed from another vehicle in working condition. I have a Trailer plug tester and everything tests good. The issue on hand is when I use the lever below the Prodigy P2, it blows the Brake Control Power Fuse immediately. I checked for ground integrity, voltages on all the wires are as expected. At a loss what the issue may be. Thank you.

If fuses are blowing when using the manual override that probably means there is a spike in voltage on the brake control wire. Unplug the unit and check for any bent pins on the controller. If the controller has been moved from another vehicle, it is possible that something was bend/damaged in the process. Generally we would also inspect the vehicle wiring for any exposed areas or damage that may be causing a short. Since your # 22116 is newly installed, it is unlikely that this is the cause. We do recommend also double checking your ground, and making sure it is grounded to good clean metal free of any paint or corrosion.
If possible, if you know someone else with a new Tekonsha brake controller, Try plugging in a different controller to see if the same thing happens. This is one way to help narrow down the cause of the issue.
