Recommended Roof Rack System For A 2022 Mercedes GLS Hauling Multiple Kayaks
Question:
Hello. I just bought a 2024 Mercedes GLS SUV that has raised front to back factory rails. I want to add a set of aero cross bars and need them long like maybe 65”-66” or something as I am a whitewater kayaker and want to be able to stack up to 4 kayak on there side. I will also add a set of stackers. The longest I am seeing on your site are 53”. Recommendations? Thanks

Since you're wanting to go with crossbars longer than what any manufacturer has designed for your 2022 Mercedes GLS you'll need to go with a Yakima system since they're the only ones with a mounting track that runs the entire length of the crossbar. There's a bit of gap in options between 60" and 70" so you'd have to either go with the Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 60" Long # Y00426 or two of the 70" # 8880650.
To connect the crossbars to the factory rails on your GLS you'll need the TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y33TR. These will have a strap that wraps under the railing and locks into the tower and tightens for a secure fit. The crossbars have a 165lb capacity so you'll want to ensure that the kayaks don't exceed this.
