Brake Controller Installation on 2011 Nissan Titan
Question:
I have an 11 Nissan Titan that came with the vehicle side wiring for under the dash for the brake controller, so its not exactly plug and play. I have a Teconsha brake controller. the truck harness has 5 wires, the controller has 4 wires I know where 3 of the wires for the controller go but I have a RG wire which is brk. sig. which is the one I think Im supposed to use, I also have a RL which is ILL Im not sure of what to do with it. Help please

The ILL on your wire indicates it is for illumination so I would leave that one alone. The wire that is marked brk. sig. sounds like the brake signal that will connect to the red wire on your brake controller. I would test this with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 just to be sure.. The wire will only have power when the brake pedal is pressed. I'm assuming the other 3 wires you figured out are the white for ground, black for 12V power, and blue for brake output.
One way or another, you should have a 6-pin factory tow port underneath the dash. This would eliminate any guesswork or need for testing with the brake controller installation since you could use the # 3050-P. The plug factory will be located underneath the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. Sometimes it is buried back in there so you have to do some digging. The plug will be taped off and labeled "Elec Brake Conn."
