Correct Replacement Leaf Spring For A Single Axle Trailer With 26" Hanger Spacing

Question:

My boat trailer hangers are 26inch center to center, was sold 25 1/4 inch center to center leaf springs. I have read hangers should be mounted 1/2inch less than length of springs. Can I use these or do I have to reposition hangers. Thanks in advance for your help.

Our general rule of thumb is that the hanger spacing should be 1/4" -1/2" less than the length of the leaf spring. There is a small amount of tolerance,(1/2" or less) but not much. I do not recommend using a 25-1/4" long leaf spring with a 26" hanger spacing. We have a leaf spring # e97SR which is 27" long. This will be your best bet for a 3.5K double eye spring.
