Wiring LED Tail Lights with Combined Brake and Turn Signals to a 1985 Toyota Pickup Truck
Question:
hi, Im having a hard time understanding what I need to buy. Ive got an 85 toyota pickup and Im trying to wire in my new led tail lights. they run brake turn and tail all in one and have 3 wires, one ground, one for tail, and one for turn/brake. I have the stock wiring cut at where the stock tail lights went. my stock lights ran off separate bulbs so they each had their own wire. When I connect my turn and brake wires together into the led taillights and turn on my turn signal, both passenger and driver side flash. and then once I hit the brakes they stop flashing and act like brake lights. what converter can I use to fix and simplify this situation without having to run separate turn signals?

Expert Reply:
Since your 1985 Toyota pickup is wired for separate turn signals and brake lights you will need to use converter # RM-732 to combine the separate signals. On the input side of the converter the white wire grounds to the frame, the red wire is brake lights only, the green wire is right turn signal only, and the yellow wire is left turn signal only.
On the output side you will have a yellow wire for left turn and brake lights and a green wire for right turn and brake lights. The running light wire will bypass this converter.
