Can OptiMate Smart Battery Charger Be Used as Battery Tender

The OptiMate Smart Battery Charger # MA99JR is designed to draw power from an existing 12V battery to charge/maintain another 12V battery. I suppose if you want to keep swapping out 12V batteries to keep one charged you could use it as a battery tender, but that seems to defeat the purpose.

Instead, I recommend using the OptiMate 2 Smart Battery Charger # MA22WR. This is AC to DC so it will maintain your battery using a standard wall outlet instead of another battery. This works with 12V batteries from 3 to 96 amp-hours. If your battery exceeds that we also have the # MA64JR which goes up to 240 amp-hours. Both work with flooded, AGM, and gel batteries.
