Comparing Roof Clearance For Sunroof With Thule Caprock On 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Flush Roof Rails

Question:

2023 Tahoe Z71 with Sunroof. How much clearance from roof would the rack have with the flush rail installation as opposed to cross rail installation. I need to know if the sunroof would still open. Thanks!

The Thule Caprock Platform Roof Tray # TH38YE will have the same clearance as the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711520 on the roof of your 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 with flush mounted roof rails. Both these will attach with the Evo Flush Rail Feet # TH710601 and Fit Kit # TH95JW. If you choose to install the tray onto the crossbars you will also need the Adapter # TH53YE. If you mount the tray with the adapters the adapters will mount to the bottom of the crossbars which will reduce some of the roof clearance. The feet will give you roughly 4" of clearance which should be enough for your sun roof to open but it is not recommended to use the sunroof as there are some roof rack accessories like the adapters above which reduce clearance and could cause damage to the sunroof or roof rack.
