Wiring of Trailer Connector Adapter on 1995 Toyota Pickup

Question:

The position of numbers and colors changes for various types of connectors and between RV or Trailer connectors. Do the various adaptors reroute to make proper connections. Also will adaptors have the 3way to 2way converter. If so can I wire a 7 blade RV connector to my vehicle than with adaptors be able to plug in most trailers or RVs.

Although the wire colors can vary by vehicle or trailer manufacturers, there is one standard way to wire a 7-way blade style trailer connector. If you are looking at the front of the connector as it is installed on the rear of a vehicle, beginning with the top pin just right of center and continuing on clockwise, first pin carries 12 volts for any trailer accessories needing power, the next pin carries the right directional/brake light signal, the next pin would carry the output from the brake controller, then the ground connection followed by the left directional/brake light and then the running/marker light.
The various adapters are wired in such a way that the correct connection will be carried through the adapter to mate up with the proper circuit on the trailer side of the connection.
We provide a Multi-Tow Adapter, part # HM47675 which would allow you to use a 4 or 5 pin flat connector as well as the 7-way.
The adapters themselves do not convert the taillight signal, the signals would need to be converted by using a tail light converter before reaching the trailer connector. The conversion of the signal is handled either by the factory tow package or by an aftermarket tail light converter.
