Can Gate Valves Be Replaced Without Cutting And Gluing In New Fittings

Question:

Good morning. I have a 2017 Solitude 310 and need to replace the existing LaSalle Bristol Black tank valve. Based on one of the comments made by Kevin C. in response to a similar question, it appears that I can simply 1. Remove the four mounting bolts 2. Slide to old valve assembly out 3. Place the new valve assembly in place 4. Bolt up the new assembly. This is all done of course with installing the new gaskets. Please confirm my thoughts. I dont want to cut out glued pieces of ABS and have to reconfigure the setup. If...I am correct with the above basic process, does it matter if I purchase a spigot to spigot or hub to spigot version of the valve? Thank you!

The LaSalle Bristol Cable-Actuated RV Waste Valve # 34466N4AB36GM will come with gaskets in between the valve and spigot/hub fittings, which I do recommend swapping over as well as these are the most easily worn components. Doing the install this way prevents the need to cut and glue in any fittings and is honestly way less time consuming.

You won't need either hub or spigot fitting since the gate valve is the only thing you're swapping in so it doesn't really matter. We unfortunately don't get them without the fittings from the manufacturer so personally I would go with a spigot to hub like the # 34466N4AB36GM has and save them for backups later on if you ever do have to do some cutting and gluing.
