How to Tell What Electric Brakes Are Needed
Question:
I have a trailer that is a converted mobile home frame. It has old Dexter demountable rims. The hubs look to be set up for trailer brakes. How do I tell if they are, and what parts might I need to make the trailer brakes operational?

To find the correct brakes, you need to know what brake mounting flange bolt pattern you have, and the inside diameter and depth of your drum. For example, the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA measure 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide (so that is the drum size they fit in) and fit a 4-bolt mounting flange that has bolt holes which measure 2-7/8" apart on center like Mounting Flange # 4-35.
