Troubleshooting o.9 Error Code On A Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Question:
Im having issues with the brakes on a trailer hooked to a 1996 dodge Ram. Prodigy 2 brake controller shows a cinch when the trailer is connected. While rolling on the road I can manually operate the controller and the trailer brakes ease into proper functioning. However, if I as much as touch the truck brake pedal the trailer brakes lock tight for a fraction of a second and then all trailer brake function completely ceases until the trucks brake pedal is released and then I can repeat the same process again. When the trailer brakes lock up the display switches to o9. HELP!!!

The o.9 code on the Tekonsha P2 # 90885 represents a bad controller ground. I would first start by double checking your ground. Make sure the controller is grounded to good clean metal, free of paint or corrosion. You could also try wiring the brake controller ground directly to the negative battery terminal. If the issue still persists try changing out the ground on the trailer connectors for both the vehicle and trailer. If the issue still persists then it could be a faulty controller and it will need to be replaced but it has a lifetime warranty for the original owner so you should be covered.
