Reinstalling The Underbody Panel On A 2023 Toyota Corolla

Hey etrailer, Just finished installing the CURT Class 1 Trailer Hitch, Code C34UR on my 2023 Corolla SE Hybrid. This particular model has the underbody plastic panel over the left side hitch mounting point. Wanted to let you know that there is an error in Step 9 of the paper instructions which came with the hitch. Step 9 shows the plastic underbody panel being re-installed after the hitch is installed. This is incorrect. The underbody panel needs to be installed prior to the hitch because there is not enough clearance between the spare tire recess and the hitch for the underbody panel to slide through. As a result, I had to uninstall the hitch, re-install the underbody panel, and then re-install the hitch. Not a big issue, just wanted to let you know. Thank you for taking the time to share all of this. We did install this hitch # C34UR on a 2023 Corolla here at our shop in Missouri (my Moms car as a matter of fact), and this model did not have the underbody panel at all. So it seems that only certain models/trims even have this panel present. I will pass this on to my contact at Curt. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers!
