Recommended Locking Hitch Pin For a Hitch Mounted Bike Rack

Question:

I need the locking device w/keys to secure my bike rack while installed on the car. I assembled the rack but misplace the key/lock that fits on the piece that secures the hitch.

I believe all you'd need then is a locking hitch pin like the Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Swivel Head Design # 1479DAT.

This is going to lock your bike rack to your receiver to your receiver, includes 2 keys, and has a weather resistant cover to keep debris and dirt out of the keyway.

This'll be a great option as long as your bike rack does not require a threaded hitch pin. Some bike racks use a threaded locking hitch pin like the Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock for 2" Hitches # HRLHPT, so if you peek inside the hitch pin hole and see threads, let me know what bike rack you have and I'll see if we have it.

Hi, I have an older Thule 2” receiver mount swing down rack with the receiver insert threaded. Thule wants $70 for their “sing-tite” lock. Can you tell me if the threads on your lock will match the threads on my Thule? Thanks

@Kendall Unfortunately with this, you're going to have to use Thule's Snug Tite Lock # THSTL2 since they use a special threaded locking pin. If you just needed the pin then you could use # TH62RE, but if you also need the anti-rattle device you'd need # THSTL2.
