Lights Hyperflashing Then Not Working on Trailer
Question:
Hi there, I bought the wiring kit number 119190KIT which is a wiring system for towing. I followed all the instructions regarding which wires to hook up in my 2009 Audi Q5. All the wires were hooked up correctly and upon hooking it up to a trailer to test, there was a weird problem. The left turn, right turn, brakes, and tail lights worked in my car and trailer. Then, when the hazards were turned on, they worked for a few seconds then would double flash and then stop working. Then the turn lights stopped working. When the car was turned off and on again, all the lights would work but then on turning the hazards back on the same problem occurred. When this happened, my car lights worked fine it was just the trailer that would stop. I can’t figure out what the problem is and would appreciate any input on how to fix this. Thank you!

My best guess as to what is happening is that foreign vehicles (Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Porsche) have lamp-out sensors when connected to a trailer so you get inconsistent power draw. So because your lights were flashing and then stopped working, that's the likely issue and you would need to install the Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals # DI34ZR.
It says it is for LED turn signals but isn't the only use; LED turn signals also have issues with power draw, hence the product name.
