Fifth Wheel Towing Option for a 2012 Ram 2500 Crew with a 64 inch Bed

Question:

Having trouble getting a good answer on is it recommended to use a sliding hitch for a 64inch bed truck while towing a modern 2012 and newer Fifth Wheel. With newer Fifth Wheels being designed to tow with short bed trucks. Thanks for the advice.

On a truck with that short of a bed the best option is to use a Sidewinder. No slider hitch would give you enough clearance to execute a 90 degree turn due to how short a 64 inch bed is.

With a Sidewinder you want to use a stationary hitch like the Reese 5th Wheel Hitch part # RP30047 that you referenced since a slider would be pointless. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will need to know what pin box you have before you can pick one out. I attached an FAQ article on them that includes a chart on how to pick out the correct Sidewinder based on your pin box.
