Recommended RV Power Center For A Trailer With 50 Amp Service

Question:

If I am running 50 amp service to a new hookup up what AC/DC distribution panel should I get? I will be mostly hooked to shore power so will the panel convert 110 to 12v panel?

The Progressive Dynamics 4500 Series RV Converter w/ Charge Wizard and AC/DC Distribution Panel # PD4560K18LS8 you were looking at would be a great option for your setup. It's rated for 240v to handle your 50 amp service and has 12 branch circuits rated at 50 amps. The converter is rated for 60 amp, if this is a replacement of a different power center then you'll want to ensure you use the properly rated wire gauge running from the converter to the battery.

You could go with a higher amperage converter (75 amp # PD4575K18LS8 or 90 amp # PD4590K18LS8) but you'll want to first verify what your battery can actually accept otherwise you'll be paying more and not fully utilizing the converter. The converter in each of these panels will convert your 110v service to 12v to charge the battery and power the DC distribution panel. If you didn't have a battery these panels will still power the DC distribution panel as long as you're plugged into shore power.
