How Do I connect My Trailer With A 5-Flat To my Vehicle With A 7-Round Plug

Question:

What flat – to – round adapter will, work for this adapter to connect to my truck round 7 way? I need the brake override to work on my Ford truck, but the trailer has the five way flat with seven wires on it.

We have exactly what you are looking for. I recommend using the Optronics adapter # A75TB. This will plug in to your trucks 7 way and allow you to plug the 5 flat into the other end. This will allow the electric lockout on your brake actuator to function normally.

You could also think about rewiring the trailer with a 7 way plug like part # H20046. This would be fairly easy to replace and would eliminate the need for any type of adapter. If you do re wire the trailer it is recommended to use a junction box like # 3375601101 to keep all of your connections clean and organized.

Personally I would go the adapter route. Mainly since it is fairly inexpensive and will require very little work on your part.
