Yes, the cradles that come on the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR are made of a hard plastic and will only break if there is a pretty hard and strong force they are smashed against - the vast majority of the time the cradles will just get scratched or dented.
If you ever need to replace them you can do so with part # HLY64RR.
