Hi everybody, my name is Andy, with etrailer.com, and today we are taking a look at Coghlan's yellow four-function whistle for kids. If you are looking for a fun way to teach your kids how to safely navigate the outdoors, this might be a good item for you to consider. Let's take a closer look at it. This whistle features, first of all, a thermometer, which does have the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales. And just be aware that if you keep this in your hand for any length of time, the warmth of your hand will of course affect the readings of that thermometer. So just be aware of that.
On the opposite side, we do have a nice and accurate compass that you can use to help teach your kids how to find their bearings using a compass, and then hidden away in between the thermometer and the compass is a magnifier. And as you can see, I'm having just a little bit of difficulty getting this magnifier out. It does have some catches here for your fingernails, but after some persistence, I was able to slide that out and just be aware that maybe even littler hands will have some difficulty pulling this out. I did just recently trim my fingernails, so I'm sure that's part of the reason for the difficulty. But you can use this magnifier to zoom in on maps or take a look at flowers or leaves and get a better view of detail in that way, and the magnifier does work rather well for what it is.
And so you can just close that and push that back in when you're not using it. And of course it is a whistle. That's one of the primary functions. So let me give you a demonstration. It's not overly loud, but I could see that if you had your child in the backseat blowing on this constantly, that could get on your nerves after a while.
So again, just be aware of that, but it is a nice safety feature as well. And then it has this clip that you can use to maybe attach to a lanyard for your child, a backpack, or other items for convenient access. This clip is very stiff, so just be aware of that. It kind of takes some doing to push that clip in, and then once you have it attached to whatever you want it to have attached to, it will be secure. So I don't think there's any reason to fear that it will slip off.
While we're zoomed in here, let me give you just a few measurements to give you an idea of size. And including the stem here, where the key ring attaches, we're sitting right at about 3 1/4 inches long, a little over three inches long. And then in regards to its thickness, we are sitting right at about 3/4 inch thick, 3/4 inch thick, right about there. Now, if you're looking for something similar for adults that has a whistle and a compass and some other really cool features as well, I would recommend taking a look at Coghlan's 5-in-1 survival tool. That comes in a bright orange color, and you can find that on our website, item number CG53VR. Well, that concludes our look today at Coghlan's yellow four-function whistle for kids. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
