Recommended Base Plate Kit for a 2003 Honda Element Using a Guardian Rock Guard

Question:

Hi: Ive got a 2011 Roadmaster Sterling tow bar. It has a crossbar attachment. I want to tow a 2003 Honda Element. I see 2 choices of base plates: 1541-1 and 1541-5. I think that Id like to use the rock guard, so that would put me in the 1541-1, correct? Also, is there only 1 crossbar size? It looks like there are elongated slots for the bolts / brackets that attach the crossbar to the driver and passenger side arms. So, am I sure that the cross bar that I have will work with 1541-1? The crossbar that I have is attached to a set of arms, so I should be able to unbolt the current arms, and then bolt the crossbar to the arms that come with 1541-1, correct? Thanks.

You are correct. To use the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard item # RM-4000 on you 2003 Honda Element you will need to use the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit item # 1541-1. Both of these will work great with your Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar since you already have the crossbar attachment.

Your crossbar should be compatible especially if it came with your Sterling Tow Bar. What your describing sounds correct. It will look like the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars item # 910021-00. This is the crossbar attachment that is compatible with the item # 1541-1 baseplates.

I have linked a couple of videos below that'll show the crossbar being connected to crossbar-style base plates.
