Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Im trying to decide on which class III hitch for 2016 Outback 2.5L, bumper or frame mounted, primarily for towing a UHaul 4x4 or 4x5 trailer not carrying bikes and coolers? Are they really equally capableIve read different things? Several say they are 600 lb tongue / 4000 lb towing. this car has 2700 lb towing gross. I did this search and I see 2 frame mounted and 2 bumper mounted all with the same specs. https://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2016_Subaru_Outback+Wagon.htm?fUrl=-pt-Class_III-hs-2_Inch_Hitch Curt has an additional frame mounted one now also that seems to have the same. Also key here, my car already has a Class I? 1 1/4, bumper-mounted hitch thatll have to come off, so it wont just be a frame bolt on no matter what.

For your 2016 Subaru Outback wagon I really like the Curt # C13410 as it has great towing capacities and is mostly hidden since only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper. This does have a slightly longer install than the options that bolt to the frame like the # 75673 but long term it would be what you'd be happier with.
Despite the differences in how they install they both have similar capacities.
