Replacement Galvanized Hubs For Dexter 8-213 on 5,200 lb Axle

Question:

My hubs say Dexter 8-213 I want to replace them with galvanized hubs. How do I make sure the new hubs and bearings will fit. I think it’s a 5200 lbs axle

Dexter now uses hubs rated for 6,000 lbs for their 5,200 lb axles (as they are discontinuing that specific capacity), but the 6k rated Dexter 8-213 hub will fit the spindle on your 5,200 lb axle as they use the same bearings. The correct galvanized Dexter 8-213 hub for your 5,200 lb axle is the following:

- Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 8-213-51UC1-EZ

If you want to verify you can do so by taking apart your current hub assembly and looking at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. Or, if you are unable to find them, use a digital caliper and measure your spindle where the bearings ride; you should get inner bearing 25580 (1.75" inner diameter) and outer bearing 15123 (1.25" inner diameter).

The # 8-213-51UC1-EZ does come with the bearings, races, and seal so you don't have to purchase those separately.
